Exciting New Technologies Continue to Aid in Improving Orthopedic Care

From the treatment of trauma in ancient times to the creation of the Thomas splint and X-ray in the 18th century to the advanced technology of today, innovation and invention have been key forces in the evolution of orthopedics. Advances in surgical techniques and equipment, coupled with proven treatments, provide new opportunities for orthopedists to care for their patients.  Please see below for examples of orthopedists in the Power Liens Preferred Provider Network who are leading the way in cutting-edge patient care.

Goodlife Physical Medicine and Dr. Nick Jain from the Center for Pain Control, for example, are utilizing the unprecedented accuracy inherent in robotics to help their patients. Robotics have been shown to improve the outcomes in spinal surgery, with less invasive surgical treatments and shorter operative and recovery times.

Another example of how relatively recent technological advances are changing the landscape of orthopedic treatments is the use of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, which uses the patient’s own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems. PRP uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. Although primarily used by pain management doctors, many of the orthopedists in our network, including hand surgeon & orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Oheb or the specialists practicing with Pacific Spine and Orthopedics are applying this cutting-edge treatment to revolutionize the field of orthopedic medicine, specifically when treating such conditions as muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries, arthritis, and fractures. PRP is associated with faster healing, a significant reduction in pain, the need for further surgical procedures and much lower risk of complications than with other treatments.
